M'alessia was born in Gyr Abania in the M Tribe. Her mother M'nari broke tradition and had a child with a young Tia, leading to M'nari and the Tia being removed from the tribe. Her father didn't care for raising a child and left M'nari alone. With the rising tension in Gyr Abania at the time thanks to the recent Imperial occupation, M'nari had nowhere to go. Luckily the Resistance found her, and it was here that she met a returning expat named Janne Ares. Janne was juggling two kids of her own, Rosemary and Crast, and the two soon became fast friends... and soon more than that.Afterwards, M'alessia found herself raised alongside two very different siblings and living among the Ala Mhigan resistance for the early years of her life. Eventually M'nari and Janne moved themselves and their kids out of Ala Mhigo for their safety, raising them in Vylbrand where they could become members of the Sirens. Alessia soon became an Arcanist and studied hard to learn magic while her mothers taught her to fight with a rapier and dagger. Over time Ali was easily the most skilled of her siblings, helped along by her age.Then a Calamity came to Eorzea. The Fall of Dalamud led to Janne and M'nari disappearing, and after that the three Ares siblings found themselves struggling to survive. Alessia, the eldest of the three, took it on herself to try and support them. This led to her coming under the guidance of a crime mistress known as the Singer. Eventually her morals and position as an arcanist were corrupted to just caring about getting gil for Crast and Rose. This led to her chasing Rose off back to Ala Mhigo with her bad decisions, while Crast and her grew ever distant.Soon after Rose's departure, Ali got in a bit too deep with the Singer and her syndicate, as well as with the law itself. Having a two pronged attack from both the underworld and the law forced Ali to move out of the city, going on to work as a lone wolf. Taking up a job using her skills and knowledge to become a temple delver to procure artifacts for criminals and scholars alike. In one particular excursion deep into Yafaem Saltmoor however, she found an ancient book bound in blackened leather. It was a book of summoning rituals for voidsent, dating back to the time of Mhach. Most curiously, the book contained a Black Mage soulstone. Thinking that she could use the power of the soulstone and a voidsent to get revenge on the Singer, she summoned what she thought was a weak voidsent...And she couldn't have been more wrong. Her voidsent, Glacivera, turned out to be a powerful being that Ali was forced to exert her full new knowledge of black magic to contain within herself. This led to years of Ali living on her own in the wilderness, only ever talking to the beastmen of the world and undertaking jobs and interactions with those outside of traditional society. All the while she spent her time as a walking prison for Glacivera, considering it her atonement.
